Why Do My Press-On Nails Keep Falling Off? The Truth About Retention.

Press-ons don't fail, impatience does.

I’m going to be 100% honest with you: applying press-on nails is a skill. I see it all the time—someone tries them once, rushes the prep, and when a nail pops off after two days, they think "these don't work."

But here is the truth: with the right prep, your set should last 2 weeks. If yours aren't lasting, you might be making one of these mistakes:

  1. The "Shine" Mistake: If your natural nail is shiny, it has oils. The glue won't stick to oil. You need to gently buff the surface until it’s completely matte.
  2. The Sizing Struggle: If the press-on is too small, it will create tension and "pop" off. Always size up and file the sides for a perfect fit.
  3. The Water Trap: Getting your hands wet right after application is the #1 killer of nail glue. Apply them before bed so they can "set" for 8 hours.

Quality matters too. Pharmacy nails are often made of rigid plastic that snaps. Our Soft-Gel nails bend with your natural nail, making them much harder to lose.
